When an online store has only a few dozen products, the catalog can still be updated manually. When there are hundreds or thousands of products, manually editing prices, stock levels, characteristics, and descriptions turns into constant routine work.
A new supplier price list, price changes, stock updates, new products, categories, or characteristics all need to be transferred to the store regularly while keeping the catalog accurate and up to date.
ARTIMEX for JoomShopping 5+ allows you to import and export products in XLS, XLSX, and CSV formats, create new products in bulk, and update an existing catalog without editing every product individually.
Instead of hundreds of manual changes — one prepared file and one import profile.
ARTIMEX helps turn large catalog management into a controlled and repeatable process.
Turn your Excel file into a catalog management tool
ARTIMEX does not require a rigid spreadsheet structure. You decide which columns contain the product code, price, quantity, category, description, characteristics, images, and other data.
There is no need to rebuild an entire supplier price list around one fixed template. Simply map the file columns to the corresponding JoomShopping fields.
XLS, XLSX and CSV
Work with familiar spreadsheet formats without manually converting data every time before import.
Bulk catalog updates
Update prices, stock levels, descriptions, characteristics, and other data for large numbers of products in a single operation.
Flexible file structure
Column order is not tied to a rigid template. Configure the import according to the structure of your own data.
Separate profiles
Create different profiles for suppliers, import scenarios, or clients and reuse saved configurations whenever needed.
Initial catalog setup or regular store updates
ARTIMEX can be used both for the initial population of a new catalog and for regular updates of an existing online store.
During import, the extension can identify an existing product using one of the available identifiers:
- Product ID;
- product code (EAN);
- manufacturer code (Manufacturer Code).
This allows the same profile to be reused: receive an updated price list, prepare the data, and update the catalog using the selected key.
Different supplier price lists — separate profiles
In a real store, data often comes from more than one source. One supplier may provide XLSX, another CSV, column names may differ, and price list structures may be completely different.
ARTIMEX allows you to create a separate import profile for each supplier or scenario and save the required field mapping.
Once the initial setup is complete, there is no need to redefine the file structure every time — simply reuse the saved profile for future updates.
One store — multiple data sources.
Each source can have its own independent import scenario.
More than products — ARTIMEX can build the catalog structure
A supplier price list may contain data that does not yet exist in your store. Instead of manually creating every required reference item in advance, ARTIMEX can automatically create missing elements during import.
Automatic creation is supported for items including:
- categories;
- manufacturers;
- characteristics;
- attributes;
- product labels;
- taxes;
- and other required JoomShopping data.
Nested categories, multiple categories, multi-select characteristics, and dependent attributes are also supported.
Update only what you need
Regular data exchange does not always require the entire product record to be overwritten.
For example, one import profile can be used only for price and stock updates, another for descriptions and characteristics, while a separate profile can handle the initial creation of new products.
Flexible column mapping lets you build an import process around the actual requirements of your store.
Let Excel do part of the work before import
ARTIMEX allows you to use Excel capabilities to prepare data before importing it. You can work with multiple sheets, formulas, and calculations, then send the prepared result to JoomShopping.
For example, your spreadsheet can:
- calculate retail prices from purchase prices and a defined markup;
- increase or decrease prices in bulk by a percentage;
- combine values from several columns;
- prepare characteristics and attributes using data from other sheets;
- generate required text values before import.
This means Excel can be used not only as a data transport file, but also as an intermediate catalog preparation tool.
Bulk management of SEO data
Along with core product data, ARTIMEX can import META title, META description, META keywords, and page aliases.
SEO data can be prepared in the spreadsheet in advance — for example, generated from the product name, manufacturer, code, or other fields — and imported together with the catalog.
If an alias for a product, category, or manufacturer is missing, it can be generated automatically according to standard Joomla rules.
Product images from external URLs
If the file contains image URLs, ARTIMEX can automatically download the images during import.
This is especially useful when migrating a catalog or working with supplier price lists where product photos are already available on an external server.
Imported images can also be resized automatically according to the JoomShopping image settings.
Keep the catalog current after receiving a new price list
One common challenge with regular imports is products that existed in the previous supplier price list but are missing from the new one.
ARTIMEX allows products to be unpublished before import and then republishes the items that are present in the current file.
This makes it possible to update a large catalog without manually searching for products the supplier no longer offers.
Export products for further work
ARTIMEX is not limited to imports. JoomShopping catalog data can also be exported for further processing, exchange, or transfer.
You do not have to export every available field — the output file can contain only the fields required for a particular task.
For example, export can be used for further editing in Excel, transferring product data to a partner, or preparing a selected subset of the catalog.
